Sporting hero's visit inspires ten parkrunners to achieve personal best times
Wormwood Scrubs was over-clouded with the temperature around 16 degrees with a 10mph cooling wind as 61 runners gathered for the parkrun. Rob Ferguson was Run Director. We had 14 first timers. Rob reminded us that there is no Wormwood Scrubs Parkrun next week Saturday 8th July!
Rob said Sir Mo Farah might be, and in fact was, present in Thames Valley Harriers’ Linford Christie stadium as added entertainment for post-run tea and flapjack.
Mo was too busy being filmed by Nike to run with us. His parkrun record stands at 15:06 at Bushy parkrun no 60 on 19th November 2005.
It may have been the presence of Mo but there were a lot of Thames Valley Harriers present. There were a few dog walkers awkwardly placed but their dogs were well behaved. From the start First Timer Charles Houston set a blistering pace and I was thanking him as were the other 10 PBs that followed!
