Autumn Mist Descends on Wormwood Scrubs
Parkrunners face overcast conditions ahead of clocks going back
Parkrun 282 - October 29
Officially it was 13 degrees, misty and overcast on Wormwood Scrubs this week with no wind. There was some moisture on the grass and some debate whether the weather justified spikes. At any rate it was good conditions. We had 56 runners turning out including 7 First Timers!
Ben Le Rougetel had pre-booked as Run Director after pre-planned drinks the night before. I agreed to write the run report so nobody else could mention my fetching blue tartan swimming trunks. My only excuse was it was dark getting up ahead of the clocks going back.
At the front we had an upset with Sage Pearce-Higgins running a good 17:35 and finishing in second place. Nick IMPEY of Ranelagh Harriers set a new PB of 17:01! That’s the fastest of Wormwood Scrubs ParkRun time of 2016 and his third PB of 3 runs! Charlie SMITH ran 19:32 just edging Harry REYNOLDS’ PB of 19:33.
Anna RUDAWSKA was Leading Lady in a new PB of 24:44! Kirstie TEW of Thames Valley Harriers placed second in a strong 25:24 over the line. First Timer Emma LILLEY of Redway Runners placed third in 25:32.
On an age-graded basis Nick Impey and Sage Pearce-Higgins scored 77% and 73.93% respectively. James Spender on 69.37% narrowly edged (Junior) Xavier Bosch’s new PB of 22:47 and William McAvock who was pacing ahead of the Serpies’ Jekyll and Hyde duathlon.
Current standing in the Men's annual points competition: Nick MICHAEL (Thames Valley Harriers and Scrubs ParkRunner of the year) 1541 pts is holding off Craig GUNN on 1464 pts. Pete JORDAN is just over a run behind 1358 pts.
There were 12 new PBs, those not mentioned yet: Alex Ball (28:11), Martin Murphy (24:21), Ned Harris (24:13), Roland Bosch (23:05), Christian James (21:26), Kirsten Kitchen (31:48), Joshua Ejdelbaum(29:25) and Ali KHORASANY (21:44). Very well done everyone!
