Gary the caring councillor

Lovely to read Gary's recent missive on the front page...Particularly touching is his revelation that people going hungry is unacceptable.Shame then that his government followed a political dogma that exploded the use of foodbanks in this country.Still ... if this virtue signalling helps him sleep at night then all well and good.Oh ... wait a moment ... there is a Tory already replying to this post saying that the world recession of 2007/8 was the sole fault of the Labour party and there was no choice but to lower taxes for the rich and companies while introducing a policy of austerity for poor.  I do keep forgetting that....

Bundesliga balls bombshell..

I have just read that Bundesliga ball boys yesterday disinfected 30 balls before the game and again at half time..  I know this happened in Germany but even so - was it absolutely necessary?.. and was social distancing properly observed throughout the process..?.. how old were these ball-boys?.. were the police involved?.. and finally was this broadcast on live TV before the 9.00p.m watershed?..answers please on a postcard...

Wear a respirator or a mask? What's what!

I have this 3M Aura 9332 FFF3 respirator (with the preferable red headband)..which if I wear protects ME from others. Yet if I wear a MASK...I'm protecting others from me!I'm a simple mind. What's what. What's best?

Sadiq Khan

Is the man a complete idiot?  At the start of the lockdown he cut right back on underground trains so that passengers (key workers) were huddled up together instead of being able to spread out and now that the lockdown is easing he is re-introducing the congestion charge so that the key workers, most of whom are not terribly well paid, are still forced onto crowded trains.  I would suggest that he and he alone is responsible for numerous deaths.

TfL's Looming Bankruptcy

Very concerning news currently on the front page. I presume a deal will be struck at the last minute but it is irresponsible of the government to use such brinkmanship with such a key part of the nation's infrastructure. Apart from undermining Sadiq Khan it is hard to see what they hope to achieve. Alternatively maybe they fully intend for TfL to go bust with the intention of redrawing employment contracts under a new body with tube drivers in particular having to accept less generous terms. Seems like a hammer to crack a nut if so.

So, after all the bluster from Johnson during the election campaign, the government has admitted that there will be goods checks post Brexit from Northern Ireland as everyone knew there would have to be. It’s almost as if the PM sometimes strays from the truth.
