Old Meads Lose Shirts from their backs

Local School benefits from clubs kit donation

Old Meadonians F.C, have donated to Chiswick Community School a complete football kit for use by the school team in its upcoming cup competitions. OMFC are sponsored by the Sports Café, Haymarket and due to the generosity of the sponsor over the past two seasons it will enable further kit to be supplied to the School.

Recently the Club was honoured to host an Amateur Football Combination League Representative Xl game against Cambridge University in front of large support. The game was also enjoyed by many pupils of Chiswick School during the rest periods away from study. The result was favourable for an AFC side that featured no less than six Old Meadonian players, winning 3-2 in an entertaining match in cold, but dry conditions.

One player in particular enjoyed the occasion. Rupert Cope at sixteen years of age became the youngest player to represent the AFC team. Rupert has played his football this season with OMFC and has featured in many Premier division matches.

Not content with recording one achievement he also became the youngest player to score in a representative game, scoring AFC's lead taking second goal a few minutes before halftime.

Following the game, hospitality was taken at The Riverside Club (just across from the School Ground), beers and tasty curry a plenty for the players and supporters. OMFC were congratulated on the organisation and fulfilment of a wonderful day for amateur football.
