JKS Restaurants has confirmed that it is planning to takeover and relaunch The Crown pub on Chiswick High Road this July.

The hospitality industry press reported last week that it was being speculated that a pub venture funding by the company was considering taking on the venue.

Dominic Jacobs, who works with JKS Restaurants, has now gone public with the group’s plans which include renaming the pub as The Hound. It is understood that a price of around £3million has been paid to take on the freehold of the site.

The group has a string of restaurants, many with Michelin stars, and Mr Jacobs is responsible for the pubs owned by the company. He opened The Running Horse in Mayfair in 2013, followed by The Whip, a racing-themed cocktail bar, before joining JKS where he has already set up The George in Fitzrovia and The Cadogan Arms.

He has worked in partnership with James Knappet who acts as culinary director for the pubs as well as being the chef at the Kitchen Table on Charlotte Street which has two Michelin stars and is owned by JKS.

Mr Jacobs said, “Following the strong performance of The Cadogan Arms and The George, we are looking forward to opening our next pub in the heart of Chiswick. Over the past three years, both existing pubs have experienced considerable growth, embedding themselves into their respective local areas and thriving as a result. It is with the same ambition we hope to launch The Hound and expand the group one step further.”

Harcourt Inns which refurbished The Crown put it on the market last year along with two other pubs it owned but the Chiswick venue failed to sell and was closed suddenly this year.
