'Substantial' offers invited from potential buyers of The Crown
The Crown on Chiswick High Road
November 27, 2022
The owners of The Crown pub on Chiswick High Road have instructed an estate agent to sell the property.
‘Substantial’ offers are being sought for the landmark venue which has had a substantial refurbishment in recent years after being bought by Harcourt Inns in 2017 for £3,750,000.
It is anticipated that it will be sold as a going concern with the staff being retained by the new owners.
As well as the freehold pub, four recently completed hotel bedrooms are included.
The bar area has seating for around 39 people with the restaurant able to accommodate 72 as well as tables on the pavement at the front of the building and a terrace at the rear. There is a private dining room in which eight people can be served.
The Interior was designed by Liana Braune the founder of Zaffera London.
The Crown offers a seven-day a week, all-day menu, from morning breakfasts, onto casual or formal lunches and dinners. The seventeenth century building is set across 2 floors, over a total area of almost 6,000 square feet.
The property is not listed but it is situated within the Chiswick High Road Conservation Area.
It is one of three pubs, which were part of the Harcourt Inns estate and are now being sold. The group was founded in 2014 by James McCulloch and he brought in Henry Harris, formerly of Racine in Chelsea, to oversee the group’s food offering. Unfortunately, the group’s expansion was badly timed with lockdown severely impacting the business leading to the departure of Mr Harris in 2020.
Previously the site had been home to Carvosso’s and an earlier plan to call the new venue The Harlot on the High Road was abandoned in 2018 before it was decided to call it The Crown.
