The new playground boards at Strand on the Green Junior School
July 18, 2025
Earlier this month, Strand on the Green Junior School hosted a community event to reveal its new playground boards, showcasing student creativity.
The project, organized by the TimeGivers charity, involved students, local artists, and volunteers in a months-long effort.
Led by facilitator Flora Hesketh and artists Jack Hilton, Tilly Power, Mary Wintour, and Rose Electra Harris, students participated in workshops exploring themes of nature, school values, and favourite book characters.
Their ideas were transformed into vibrant, large-scale artworks, photographed by Pixangle and installed by Lavastar, revitalizing a previously plain playground area.
A TimeGivers representative noted that students proudly identified their contributions during the unveiling. One artist expressed a newfound connection to the school community.
Students also led tours of the school’s Secret Garden, a green space revitalized through ongoing collaboration with TimeGivers, fostering their connection to nature.
The Mayor of Hounslow, Amy Croft, and other local councillors attended the unveiling
The event drew the Mayor of Hounslow, Amy Croft, local councillors, and families, all celebrating the students’ hard work and creativity. TimeGivers acknowledged the support of Headteacher Ruth Woods and teachers Alice Maynard and Ellie Heale in bringing the project to fruition.
