The Arts Society Chiswick’s July lecture is “Caravaggio, Painter Extraordinaire, a flawed Genius… and a Murderer. How I became a ‘Caravaggisti”.
Teacher and author Keith Bonser combines an in-depth study of Caravaggio's life and paintings, with an account of how he became, as he describes himself, a “Caravaggisti”.
A weekend break in Dublin introduced him to Caravaggio. Keith has travelled extensively throughout Europe to see Caravaggio’s paintings in situ, tracing many intriguing aspects of his life story from the town of Caravaggio to the cities of Milan, Rome, and Naples, and the islands of Malta and Sicily.
Keith Bonser was a teacher and senior manager in education for 38 years, until retirement gave him the opportunity to pursue this specific interest. He subsequently wrote a book on these experiences. Caravaggio came into his life completely by chance, his life has never been quite the same since.

The talk takes place at 8pm on Thursday, 11 July at POSK on King Street in Hammersmith. Doors open at 7pm, as does the private bar. Guests are very welcome to attend for a payment of £15 on the door.
