Hounslow Planning U-turn on the bowls club

Putt in the Park's planning application, which would involve the destruction of the bowling green, was refused once, then recommended for refusal a second time, when the decision was deferred, so the Masterplan could be taken into account. Much time has elapsed and the Masterplan has not yet materialised. Putt in the Park put in a 'new' (actually third) application, practically identical, but ensuring by this manoeuvre that the 50+ objections sent in at the time of the first application would not be counted! So now they can say only a handful of objections were received! People understandably expected that objecting once to a proposal would be enough. Irrespective of the merits or demerits of the case, this is a despicable way to behave. And, suddenly, Hounslow Planning has reversed itself and is recommending approval! What happened to 'contravention of Policy CLI of the Hounslow Local Plan - loss of D2 community facility' and contravention of Hounslow's Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy? One would be forgiven for believing there was some serious arm-twisting and pressure exerted to ensure the CIC can bulldoze through the community's objections and ignore the massive support for the retention of bowling in GP, including a 620-name petition. The whole thing stinks. And, once again, we can do nothing against yet another brazen abuse of power. And, of course, Hounslow Planning has also reversed its own decision on the car parking application and has now recommended approval ... No doubt the parking company (who are not going to be paid a management fee) are already rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of making a bomb in fines

South St. & Uppoer Square cycle proposals

Topic: South St. & Upper Square Cycle proposals Posted by: Vanessa SmithDate/Time: 18/06/21 11:14:00People in Isleworth received notice yesterday of the decision to proceed with the work for the above scheme. The sentence below says it all, again, an officer has made the decision not only to proceed but to ignore objections. The report was 'shared with councillors and the Lead Member for Transport', none of whom live in Isleworth, work to start 28 June.'A decision on the objections to the Traffic Order was taken by Chief Officer Decision at the end of March. The decision was to set aside the objections, and proceed with the scheme. It can be viewed here - https://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=622&MId=11691.'Many of us feel this scheme will be an unmitigated disaster just waiting to happen, in particular the part outside The Isleworth Public Hall, where the pavement will be shared between pedestrians and cycles separated by a 'kerb' which is going to present a trip hazard if ever there was one. This also necessitates moving the bus stop along South St. for a 'half stop' and will likely have the effect of causing traffic hold-ups at busy times, because the road is narrower there, just what we need.Parents collecting/dropping off their offspring from a local primary school wait outside the Public Hall, and there are quite a few local groups who use it for meetings, and whose elderly members use the benches outside whilst waiting for their bus home, this will no longer be possible. It doesn't require a genius to see the possible conflict this will bring between the two groups, but then what do we know?Still, never mind, the interests of people on bikes override absolutely everything these days, and our elected members are so supine, they abdicate their responsibility to represent us in favour of letting paid employees make decisions which they should make, but hey! Never mind the officers 'share' their decisions with them - so that's alright then.
