Students taking their Duke of Edinburgh award can volunteer
Chiswick litter pick volunteers
There is another community litter pick this Sunday (23 October) on Turnham Green.
For one hour, volunteers collect rubbish left on the Green and surrounding streets. You are welcome to join them and will be given tea and cake afterwards. Make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and bring gardening gloves.
To take part meet the group outside Christ Church Turnham Green on Town Hall Avenue (W4 5DT) at 2.30pm.
The organisers are calling on any student wishing to volunteer to help out as part of their Duke of Edinburgh, bronze, and silver awards to get in touch.
Cllr Ron Mushiso said, “To date, we have worked with 6 students and helped them to pass their DofE. What's more; several of them have stayed on and continued to support this civic cause after completion.
“I can't say it enough but there is something remarkably humbling about coming together to do the simple things in aide of the wider community.
“We need more people to have this experience. It is rewarding.

The litter picks are held on the fourth Sunday of each month with the next one taking place on 27 November. The event will not be held in December.
Other community clean ups have been organised across Chiswick. If you are interested in taking part in one in your neighbourhood contact Cllr Mushiso on Ron.Mushiso@hounslow.gov.uk or call 07976 702887 to find out further information.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do. For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied.
