Police in Chiswick are seeking a man aged in his twenties, who fled the scene after an incident involving a knife, on Chiswick Common last Sunday (9 April).

Police were called to the scene in the late afternoon, around 4.30 pm, following a reported altercation between a number of people on the Common.

A 26-year old man received a knife injury to the chest during the incident. He was treated in hospital for the injury and released.

It is believed that the suspect being sought, described as a male aged between 20-25 years, about 5 ft 8 inches tall, may have run towards Chiswick High Road through an alleyway and made his escape. Police have appealed for witnesses.

The area was packed with shoppers and local residents sitting outside cafes enjoying the sunny weather at the time.

Police taped off the area on the High Road outside the police station, and along Chiswick Common, while investigations started.

A local police spokesman said that there had been an increase in problems with groups causing anti-social behaviour in the area recently. Police now plan to patrol the area on a daily basis to identify those causing the problems and take action.
