Stella Magarshack suffered from a stroke after attack and remains in a critical condition
A man from Chiswick has been charged in connection with the robbery of an 87-year-old woman.
37-year-old Andrew Alexander, 37, of Sutton Lane South, Chiswick has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of fraud.
In November of last year Stella Magarshack was robbed in at her home Albert Street, Camden. She was returning with her shopping when her assailant followed her into the communal area in her block of flats. She told a relative who lives with her what had happen but had collapsed by the time the police arrived at the scene. It is believed that she suffered a stroke and she remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Ms Magarshack, studied at St Martins and Royal College of Art and then worked as a secondary school Art teacher. She taught at King Alfred's School, Hampstead where she became head of the art department from the 1970s to 1989. On her retirement she continued to paint and her work had been exhibited at Lauderdale House in Highgate, in 2011.
The second count of robbery brought against Mr Alexander is in connection with an incident that took place in Hounslow on January 2.
He has been remanded in custody and is due at Isleworth Crown Court on 27 March.
