The first restaurant has moved in to the redeveloped Wood Lane Railway Arches.

Barbecue specialists Prairie Fire have opened their first bricks and mortar home in White City and are now cooking up Kansas City-style smoked meats, sauces and fixings.

You can see a sample of what's on offer at the restaurant and taproom, which together have taken over two archways, on Prairie Fire's website.

Launched in 2013 by Kansas City native Michael Gratz, Prairie Fire got its start trading at food markets and festivals throughout London.

Now it is established under the arches, with space for up to 75 diners, who can choose from he likes of 16-hour oak smoked brisket; 14-hour applewood smoked pork; burgers; and meat samplers with brisket, pulled pork, sausage and tangy slaw all served alongside Prairie Fire’s own Great Taste award-winning BBQ sauces. The team will also serve an array of vegan and veggie dishes, plus craft beers and a curated cocktail and wine list.

Prairie Fire is the first business to take up Transport for London offer to to hire a space within 31 railway arches near Wood Lane tube station.

TfL has launched a website called Wood Lane London Arches showing off the spaces, which it describes as
'new character retail, restaurant and bar space
in West London'.

The site says: " Transport for London are regenerating 31 railway arches to create a destination for working, shopping, eating and socialising.

"Phase 1 is nearing completion and will provide over 10,000 sq ft of space across 13 railway arches with nits ranging from 765 to 1,800 sq ft benefitting from A1/2/3/4 consent and opening hours of 7/8am to 12/1am. "

H&F Council gave the the go ahead for Transport for London’s plans in March, 2017. At the time, the designated arches beneath the Circle and Hammersmith & City tube lines - created in the 1860s - were inaccessible to the public, and filled with rubble, rubbish and debris.

The first phase includes 13 spaces, including the two alreadysnapped up by Prairie Fire and these are set to be followed by 12 arches closest to the A3320 West Cross Route which are due for completion in the early 2020s.

In addition to bringing the units back into use, TfL plans include creating new pedestrian passageways, as shown in these new pictures, to improve connectivity in the neighbourhood and introduce new cycle parking.
