New QPR Manager Confirmed

Former Portsmouth manager Paul Hart takes the helm

Queens Park Rangers Football Club have appointed a new manager.

"The Club is pleased to confirm the arrival of Paul Hart as First Team Manager," a Club announcement says.

"Hart will be joined at the Club by new Assistant Manager Mark Hartford in a deal which runs until the end of the 2009-10 season," the statement says.

Harford is the former manager at Luton Town. He had a spell as caretaker manager at QPR in 2007.

Former Porstmouth Manager Hart replaces Jim Magilton who was suspended from the Club last week following allegations that he had head-butted one of his players.

Magilton strenuously denied the allegations but has now left Loftus Road.

"The Club can confirm that Jim Magilton and (assistant) John Gorman have left Queens Park Rangers by mutual consent," a further statement said.

"Recent events have been widely reported and whilst Jim Magilton completely denies the allegations, with the full support of John Gorman, it has been agreed that it is in the best interests of the Club and Jim Magilton if the parties move on in their separate ways," the statement said.

Paul Hart is the sixth new boss at QPR in two years after John Gregory, Luigi De Canio, Iain Dowie, Paulo Sousa and Jim Magilton.
