Club to investigate alleged dressing room incident
The Manager of Queens Park Rangers was suspended from duty this week following an alleged incident with one of his players.
Jim Magilton is alleged to have head-butted midfielder Akos Buzsaky during an argument in the dressing room, following the football club's 3-1 defeat at Watford last Monday (December 7) night.
“The Club can confirm that Manager Jim Magilton has been suspended with immediate effect, pending an internal investigation," the Club said in a statement.
"The suspension relates to an incident which occurred at Monday's Championship fixture against Watford at Vicarage Road.”
Magilton strenuously denies any wrongdoing but Buzsaky is now threatening legal action over the alleged incident.
"We are content that QPR are doing things the right way and are happy for them to pursue their investigation, but we will pursue legal action if they fail to find in favour of Akos," his spokesman told the Daily Mail.
Magilton's assistant John Gorman and coach Keith Ryan are both reported to have walked out in support of the former Northern Ireland international, with Gorman refusing to take charge of the team unless Magilton is reinstated.
A further Club statement was issued on Friday (December 11): “The Club can conform that Youth Team managerial duo, Steve Gallen and Marc Bircham, have been placed in temporary charge following the news that Manager Jim Magilton has been suspended.
“The pair will be in charge of the Rs' Championship fixtures against West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.
A further announcement regarding the futures of John Gorman and Keith Ryan will be made in due course.”
