The Hounslow Liberal Democrats have published their 2026 local election manifesto, A Fair Deal for Hounslow, setting out what they describe as a bold plan to “fix Hounslow” and re‑establish a Liberal Democrat presence on the council for the first time in more than a decade. The party says this year’s elections offer residents “the opportunity to ensure that the Liberal Democrat voice is heard again locally”.

The manifesto opens with a frank acknowledgement of the party’s long absence from the council. “For far too long, Liberal Democrats have been absent from Hounslow Council. Our last Liberal Democrat councillor ended their term in 2014,” the introduction states, emphasising the party’s determination to rebuild its local base. The Lib Dems say they will field candidates in every ward in the borough, including three in each of the Chiswick wards, with candidate announcements expected shortly.

The document sets out a wide‑ranging programme covering the cost of living, housing, children’s services, health and social care, climate and clean air, transport, community safety, the local economy, and equality. In full, the manifesto promises to keep council tax fair and transparent, target support to residents most affected by the cost‑of‑living crisis, build genuinely affordable homes, crack down on rogue landlords, improve SEND provision, strengthen mental health support, move the borough towards net zero, improve streets and transport links, increase visible policing, revitalise high streets, and promote equality and inclusion across council services.

The party argues that Hounslow’s Labour‑run council, alongside a Labour Mayor of London and Labour government, has “let residents down”, citing concerns about crime, cleanliness, housing pressures and the rising cost of living. The manifesto pledges stronger oversight of council spending, better value for money, and a renewed focus on local priorities.

The Lib Dems also highlight their recent momentum in neighbouring boroughs, pointing to their strong position in Richmond and growing support in Ealing as evidence that they can once again become competitive in Hounslow.

With both Labour and the Conservatives having already published their manifestos, the Liberal Democrats say their plan offers a “liberal, community‑focused alternative” for residents seeking change on 7 May.
