London Underground Piccadilly Line Closures

London Underground Piccadilly Line Closures

Bus Replacement Services Between Acton Town and Heathrow

In order to safely carry out essential track and signal repairs London Undergound have decided to completely close the Piccadilly Line between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport on the following weekends in 2004:-

7/8 February
20/21 March
27/28 March
3/4 April

The closures will start after the last service on Friday night and trains will not recommence operation until the first service on the Monday morning.

During the closures three different rail replacement bus services will be operating to Heathrow Airport. Details of these are as follows:-

Bus Service A - This will stop at all stations between Ealing Common and Hatton Cross. The service will operate every 4-10 minutes depending on the time of day. Three buses per hour will be extended from Hatton Cross to Heathrow Central throughout the day.

Coach Service B - This will be a direct non-stop service between Acton Town and Heathrow Central. The service will operate every 1-5 minutes depending on the time of day.

Coach Service C - This will be a direct service from Acton Town to Heathrow Terminal 4, stopping only at Hatton Cross en route. The service will operate every 15 minutes throughout the day.

Please note that due to recent changes within the Central Bus Station the Heathrow terminus for these rail replacement services has changed. Throughout all of the forthcoming six weekend closures of the Piccadilly Line the rail replacement services will operate from the outer island of the Terminal 2 forecourt. All private vehicle drop offs which normally take place on this island will be diverted into short stay car park.

London Underground Limited and Heathrow Airport Limited will be providing additional wayfinding and ensuring that extra staff are available to assist customers in getting to the Terminal 2 forecourt. Please ensure that you leave extra time for your journey to allow for the rail replacement service.

LU tickets will be accepted on local bus routes 81 and 111 throughout the weekend of the Acton Town/Heathrow closure. Porters will be available to assist customers with their luggage at Heathrow Terminal 2 and 4 and at Acton Town.

Customers are advised to allow at least an extra hour to complete their journeys, especially those wishing to make last train connections.
