Opportunity for residents to get involved in global issues on a local level
Residents are being encouraged to take part in a fortnight devoted to making London's communities greener, healthier and more sustainable places to live.
Kicking off on World Environment Day (5 June), London Sustainability Weeks aims to raise awareness of the need to protect the local environment and improve the quality of life in their area, while understanding the limits on resources.
Lucy Griffiths, Hounslow’s Environmental Strategy Officer, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents to get involved in global issues on a local level, and I hope that lots of people will be able to organise activities during the fortnight.
“They don’t have to be big events - it could be something as simple as having an open day, organising a public meeting or starting a simple sustainability project. The important thing is to take part, be more aware of sustainability issues, and do something today with tomorrow in mind.”
If you would like to get involved, want more information or would like to download a resource pack, log onto www.londonsustainabilityweeks.org or call T: 020 7359 8228. For information on Hounslow events, contact Lucy Griffiths, Environmental Strategy Officer on 020 8583 5213.
