The Green takes on its magazine rival

Westside bought out by local competitor

The Green's parent company, Archant Life, recently announced that it has acquired six titles from Metropolis Publishing Ltd including rival local magazine Westside.

Archant Life bought The Green along with six other titles from Highbury House publishing in March 2005.  This latest acquisition, which also includes The Resident, Grove, Angel and North, makes the company the biggest local magazine publisher in London.

Archant Life MD Johnny Hustler said "I am delighted that we have been able to add some of London's best known magazine titles to our existing business. They have a strong heritage and are published by extremely talented people."

Metropolis publisher, Jeremy Isaac, who is joining Archant in a consultancy role, said "We have really enjoyed building up these titles, and we are proud of what has been achieved. But it is the right time to be moving them into a company that can further develop and expand the business.

It is unclear at present whether Archant Life intend to carry on publishing both The Green and Westside as the two magazines have identical area of distribution.
