Gunnersbury Park Now Charging for Car Parking
20 minute grace period will allow for pick up and drop offs

Visitors to Gunnersbury Park are now being charged if they travel there in their cars. Since Sunday 1 May the much delayed plan to introduced car parking charges has been introduced.
The hourly car park charge has been set at what the park’s management are describing as an ‘introductory rate’ of 50p per hour, with an additional option of 75p for a 90 minute stay.
There will be no maximum stay for vehicles, and visitors can pay either by the app or the card payment machines. There will also be a 20 minute grace period before charges start to allow for drop offs/pick ups.
Blue badge holders will not be charged and can park in the disabled car park by the museum and the main car park.
There has already been some criticism of the system used as it doesn’t work with older mobile phones and requires more recent operating systems to be installed. All visitors will still be able to use a debit or credit cards to pay but they will not be able to extend their visit while in the park without returning to the machines.
In a statement announcing the new charges the Community Interest Company which runs the park said, “The basic running cost for Gunnersbury Park & Museum is £750,000 a year, and these costs are rising. Surplus funds generated from car parking income will be spent on essential park maintenance, including vital repair work on the paths around the park. We have a target of £80,000 in the first year to spend on this essential park maintenance, which will make a real difference in keeping Gunnersbury a thriving place for our communities to enjoy.”
Charges will apply at all times and will be enforced by ANPR cameras in the main car park.
