More Lane Closures Ahead on Gunnersbury Avenue

North Circular to be reduced to one lane in each direction for 24 hours

Work proceeds on the Power Road Bridge project

Due to the construction of a new bridge deck for the eastbound road on the A406 North Circular as part of the Power Road Bridge project more lane restrictions are required. These are likely to lead to increased congestion on Gunnersbury Avenue near Chiswick Roundabout.

Earlier this month new concrete beams were installed on the eastern side of the bridge. The next step is to pour the concrete for the new bridge deck on this side, which will support the road and pavement.

To allow the concrete to set, Transport for London (TfL) need to limit the amount of traffic crossing the bridge. They will therefore reduce the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue to one lane in each direction. Traffic will flow in both directions on the western side of the bridge throughout the works.

Works will take place from 9am on Monday 4 June until 9am on Tuesday 5 June.

TfL do not expect these works to be particularly noisy. However if you have any concerns or queries you can call them on 0343 222 1234.

They say they will make every effort to finish the works on time, although poor weather conditions may mean they need to reschedule at short notice.

Bus passengers Route 440 will run as normal throughout these works. However some journeys during this period may take slightly longer due to the lane reduction over the bridge.

Work to rebuild the new eastern section of Power Road Bridge will continue until autumn 2018, when TfL plan to reopen all four lanes on Gunnersbury Avenue.

The final works, including reopening of the footways and cycle routes across the bridge, are planned for completion by summer 2019.
