The next talk to be presented by the Arts Society Chiswick will be by Nicholas Merchant on ’The Jewellery of René Lalique’
The lecture takes place at 8:00pm on Thursday 9 March at POSK on King Street.
René Lalique is best known as the manufacturer of Art Deco glass but he was also regarded as a jeweller of great imagination and skill.
Nicholas Merchant is a freelance lecturer in the Decorative and Fine Arts whose lectures are designed to inform and amuse. Come and hear more about Lalique’s jewellery which features the sinuous curves and natural references so prominent in Art Nouveau design which was a revelation to the cognoscenti who purchased his work.
One of his most enthusiastic patrons, Calouste Gulbenkian, said, “He ranks amongst the greatest figures of art of all time and his masterful touch…… will delight future cognoscenti”.

Doors open at 7pm, as does the private bar. The lecture will start at 8pm and guests are welcome paying £10 on the door.
