Green Industrial Revolution falls Flat
In just 10 years you won't be able to buy a new petrol or diesel car.2.5m cars are sold in the UK each year. The proportion of those that are EV (electric) should accelerate so we could see over 1m EV's/yr in 5yrs time. But how are we going to charge them? There aren't enough lampposts or people with off-street parking. 1 out of 6 councils have not put any charge points in. If you drive anything but a Tesla today, making a long journey will double the time of a petrol car because the few chargers that exist outside London are 7kw or broken. So you spend more time charging than driving. There are NO plans for infrastructure on a scale to deliver this "revolution". In London, our councils and TfL are too focussed on looking backwards, trying to abolish the car and return to the good old days before the threshing machine, rather than integrating EV's within our new streets.Unless Musk comes up with a genius invention like a lightweight removable battery (currently they're about 30% of the weight of the car) this target won't be hit and the Petrol car will be with us for many more years. My point is - where is the infrastructure plan? Take our Local Bubble. Where is the plan from Hounslow and TfL?
