The Ealing Half Marathon is this Sunday
So it's nearly here. To say I'm feeling nervous is a bit of an understatement. I'm scared of what's ahead but excited too.
I remember the fantastic atmosphere in Ealing on half marathon day last year - a real sense of spirit and community.
Although I was suffering both physically and mentally (I only entered to be part of it last year - not actually run it) the experience was incredible.
I didn't think I would ever do it again - but seems I was wrong and here I am.
I haven't really caught the running 'bug' like many do - but I have been 'training' and it's just ever so slightly better than last year. I'm hoping I will get round the course in less discomfort and just maybe even enjoy (?) it a bit.
If you've never been to Ealing before and you are only here for the Half-Marathon - welcome. Enjoy running through our lovely parks (but do watch those conkers!)
If it's your first half marathon best of luck! Read some great tips and advice from a real runner here.
If you're aiming for a PB - may the wind be with you.
And if you're one of the many residents whose day is being disrupted by some rather slow runners - apologies. I really will try and go that bit quicker so your road can be opened sooner this time.
Show your support on Sunday but I urge please don't shout: 'Nearly there' @1 mile, 'They've all gone home love' @6 miles or 'Give us a smile' @12 miles... I may not be very polite ;)
Ending on a positive (as I hope this half-marathon will) I've been digging out some motivational quotes - if you have any more please do send - I love them:
“The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
'' Believe you can and you’re halfway there.''
'' "It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves."
'' Run the first part with your head, the middle part with your personality, and the last part with your heart.''
''Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up''
See you on the other side!
