Meads hit six for second successive week

A.F.A. Middlesex and Essex Senior Cup Old Meadonians 6 Old Vaughnians 1

This postponed game from two weeks ago saw Old Meadonians brush aside a feeble challenge from visitors from two divisions below without breaking into a sweat at Riverside Lands on Saturday. In fact it could have been double figures if Vaughnians’ keeper had not been on fine form.

Striker Colin Hawkins got the first on ten minutes but, following an own goal ten minutes later, Meads went to sleep on the job until half-time.

The second half was one way traffic. However, even with the hosts squandering one chance in three, further goals were added through John Pointon, Steve Bowring, a second own goal and Dan Salanson from the spot.

Team: Sayers, Salanson, Wapshott, Williamson, Costello, Quinn, (Hanley), Pointon, Rhone, Cope, Hawkins, Bowring
