Chiswick's Food Heroes

Search for the nation's food heroes sees eleven local nominations

Known across the capital as one of the top culinary destinations, Chiswick's renowned food scene is about to take centre stage nationwide in the second series of UKTV’s Food Heroes.

Celebrating home-grown success, the awards are a tribute to everyone who puts great British produce onto plates, into our shops and markets, and on pub and restaurant tables.

Spanning over 11 episodes Local Hero 2007 is a nationwide search to find Britain's heroes of food - those small-scale producers, sellers or restaurateurs who never compromise on flavour, manufacture or quality. Leading the hunt for this year's winner is Gary Rhodes who will be assessing the strongest contenders from each region based on a combination votes from the public and the judging panel.

This year sees Chiswick's nominations almost doubling with no less than eleven local businesses - six of which are on Turnham Green Terrace – amongst the nominees, proof that we continue to have some of the finest food retailers in the country.

Le Vacherin, Andreas Georghiou & Co, Clever Wally's, As Nature Intended, Covent Garden Fishmonger's, Macken Brothers, Mortimer & Bennet, T Adamou and Sons, Theobroma Cacao, Grove Park Deli, Pissarro, K. Hammond (Thames Road butcher), The Swan and Fouberts.

Places that the public voted for in 2006 are still eligible to win this year - and all their previous votes have gone back to zero.
