Yuma Sushi is on Acton Lane
February 7, 2026
A Chiswick sushi restaurant has been given the lowest possible food-hygiene rating after Ealing Council inspectors found serious failings across all key safety categories.
Yuma Sushi, located on Acton Lane near Chiswick Park Tube station, was awarded a zero-rating following its most recent inspection, with officers stating that urgent improvement was needed in Food Hygiene and Safety, Structural Compliance, and Confidence in Management.
The restaurant has experienced a mixed hygiene record since opening in Chiswick in 2016, having previously operated in Richmond. In 2018 it was awarded a Level 2 rating, meaning “requires improvement”, with poor scores for hygiene and structural compliance. This was upgraded to 4 stars in a follow up visit in January 2019 and a further inspection resulted in a top rating of 5 stars.
Yuma Sushi’s website continues to display a 5-star rating, which no longer reflects the current score shown on the Food Standard Agency web site which was last updated this Friday (6 February).
The business describes itself as offering “the taste and lightness of Japanese cuisine in a selection of appetising combinations, freshly prepared for you by our highly qualified chefs.”
The restaurant has been approached for comment.
Yuma Sushi is not the only local business to have received a zero rating recently. The KFC branch on Chiswick High Road was inspected by Hounslow Council in December and also told that urgent improvement was necessary in hygienic food handling and the cleanliness of facilities.
Inspectors warned that major improvements were needed in the management of food safety. Staff at the branch said the inspection coincided with a flooding incident that forced the restaurant to close temporarily. It reopened only after approval from an Environmental Health Officer.
A KFC spokesperson said, “We have strict quality and hygiene processes in place across our restaurants, and this rating falls below the high standards we expect. The restaurant team acted quickly to get things back up to scratch and we've invited the Environmental Health Officer back for a re-inspection to see the improvements.”
A follow-up inspection, the results of which were published on 5 February, confirmed that the branch had achieved a 5-star rating, restoring it to the highest hygiene category.
