A leading youth charity in Chiswick is appealing for local businesses, tradespeople and suppliers to lend a hand with a number of urgent maintenance and equipment needs.

W4 Youth, which provides free activities and a safe space for teenagers throughout the week, is seeking support from the local community to help maintain and improve its facilities at Southfield Recreation Ground. The charity's mission is to give young people positive opportunities to socialise, develop skills and stay engaged in a safe and welcoming environment.

The appeal has been backed by Southfield ward councillor Gary Malcolm, who is also a trustee of the charity. He is encouraging local companies and skilled volunteers to come forward and assist with several practical projects that will directly benefit the hundreds of young people who use the centre each week.

Among the charity's most pressing requirements are two new weather-resistant five-a-side football goals, which are needed to replace existing equipment used in regular sporting activities. W4 Youth is also looking for a handyman or handywoman who can repair a wooden bench and securely install a boxing bag bracket.

In addition, the charity requires the services of an electrician to repair outdoor floodlighting and a locksmith to service and repair locks on its shipping containers.

W4 Youth says any assistance, whether through donated equipment, discounted services or a few hours of professional expertise, would make a significant difference and help ensure its facilities remain safe, secure and attractive for local young people.

Anyone who believes they may be able to help is asked to contact the charity by email at w4youth@yahoo.co.uk.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
