After its official launch on 20 May, the W4 Youth Hub has already started activities at its base on Southfield Recreation Ground.

Operating from temporary facilities, it opened for 11-19 year olds on Tuesday 6 June with activities such as street dance classes being provided in the open air.

Sally Chacatté, W4 Youth Founder and Chair, said, “During June our clubs are four nights a week from Tuesday to Friday from 6-8pm. A mix sport and arts with basketball from 6-7pm on Tuesday and Friday and football from 6-7pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Every day we have street dance from 7-8pm.”

The plan is to add more clubs in July music and drama and traditional youth club with more details to be announced later.

Sally adds that the longer term project to build the W4 Youth & Community Centre on the location of the current W4 Youth Hub is ‘progressing very well’.

This new centre would provide a purpose built home for the group including changing rooms, nursery and kitchen facilities.

When the plans were originally announced the completion of this centre was scheduled for 2025.

Members of W4 Youth are due put on dance displays on Green Days on Sunday 11 June.
