Local dance organisation Ballet4life has made the shortlist for the coveted One Dance UK’s People’s Choice Award 2023.

The nomination comes as it is about to celebrate its 20th Anniversary in January 2024.

The awards are an annual celebration for people from across the dance sector to acknowledge and reward the people who have made an impact on the UK dance landscape. They aim to champion the work of dance artists, teachers, venues and practitioners.

A panel of expert judges, drawn from the dance sector, shortlisted nominees for 14 categories including the People’s Choice Award.

Ballet4Life was founded in 2004 by Chiswick resident Donna Schoenherr with the first class held in the ground Floor Studio of the Rambert Dance Company now the home of The Chiswick Cinema. Since 2005 classes have been taught out of The Arts Educational School studios on Bath Road as well as at St Peter’s Church Hall on Southfield Road..

Since its inception, Ballet4Life has continued to develop and expand its adult dance programme and now offers daytime and evening classes Monday-Sunday, all levels, taught by industry professionals held online and in large well-equipped studios.

She says, “We are, once again, very honoured and grateful for this, and we thank everyone for their nominations that brought us to this next round! We would like to ask for people’s votes now in order to secure our place for the finals, and to continue to make evident the importance of Dance and the Arts for our community.”
