Hounslow Council is bringing its Cabinet Question Time to the elegant surroundings of Chiswick House & Gardens. The event, taking place in the Garden Pavilion on Wednesday 17 September, begins with light refreshments at 6:00 pm, followed by the main session starting at 6:30 pm.
Residents will have a direct channel to engage with the Council Leader, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, and other Cabinet Members. The format — akin to BBC Question Time — invites pressing, front-bench questions submitted either in advance or raised live on the night, all moderated by an independent chair.
Past events have invited a range of urgent concerns, from fly-tipping and crime prevention to equitable service distribution for senior councillors and council officers to address directly.
This time, the session will be chaired by Xanthe Arvanitakis, Director of Chiswick House and Gardens Trust — marking her first time leading Cabinet Question Time.
Xanthe Arvanitakis, Director of Chiswick House and Gardens Trust, said, “Since joining the Trust in 2020, my focus has been on increasing its social and community impact.
“As we expand our resources with the development of our new Community and Creative Campus, we hope to offer even more opportunities to Hounslow residents to connect with each other, learn new skills and enrich their lives. Over the years, I have been invited to chair a range of events from meetings to panel discussions and look forward to chairing my first Cabinet Question Time.”
Cllr Rajawat notes the significance of the location which he describes as a “stunning location enjoyed by so many Hounslow residents,” where the Council aims to demonstrate its commitment as a “listening council” and improve services through resident feedback.
This event belongs to an ongoing series of public accountability forums that Hounslow Council has staged across the borough. Previous venues include College and community centres like the Meadowbank Centre in Cranford last September, West Thames College in Isleworth last February, and Feltham Assembly Hall two years ago.
The Council has provided recordings and written responses after each event.
The event is free but you are invited to register your attendance on this link.
