Chiswick House & Gardens Trust will host a free community event to provide an opportunity to have a first look at the newly opened Artist Studios.
On Saturday, 30 August you will be able to take part in creative workshops, and contribute ideas for future public spaces on the historic site.
Centred in the 17th-century Kitchen Garden, the drop-in event runs from 10:30am to 3:30pm and features a range of activities for families, art enthusiasts, and nature lovers. Artist Ayesha Weekes will lead hands-on workshops encouraging visitors to help build a collaborative clay garden and share their vision for a proposed outdoor learning yard and community space.
Children can also follow a self-guided nature trail through the Kitchen Garden, designed to highlight the site’s biodiversity, including butterflies, beetles, and bees. Meanwhile, art-focused visitors will have the opportunity to tour the new studios and meet some of the resident artists.
The Artist Studios, which officially opened in May 2025, were developed in partnership with ASC (Artist Studio Company) and provide workspaces for up to 50 artists. They form part of Chiswick House & Gardens Trust’s wider Community and Creative Campus initiative, aimed at expanding cultural activity and supporting inclusive creative practice across Hounslow.
The event also serves as a consultation opportunity. In addition to sharing ideas in person, residents can contribute to an interactive digital noticeboard hosted by Weekes, who has worked with CHGT since 2021 on projects exploring Black history and community engagement in Chiswick.
The Community Celebration and Studios Open Day is free and open to all. More information about the studios and the digital noticeboard can be found on the Chiswick House & Gardens website.
