Hounslow Council consultation drop in sessions today
Hounslow Council wants to hear the public's views on its plan to upgrade Dukes Meadows which include changes to the sports facilities and altering the landscape character of the area.
The future plans also include reconnecting the Thames Path and improved access, as well as more work on nature conservation in the area.
Views and opinions are being sought on options for the site on Sunday November 20, from 10 am onwards at two venues where you will have the opportunity to meet council officers and the consultant team.
Food Market Chiswick (open 10am to 2pm)
The Pavilion, Market Drive, Chiswick, W4 2RX
Chiswick Pier (hall will be open from 10am to 6pm)
The Pier House, Corney Reach Way, W4 2UG
If you cannot attend these sessions visit the Council website to view the draft options and site plans and provide feedback and comments online or Visit the Chiswick Town Hall (Heathfield Terrace London W4 4JN) where the information will be displayed until 2 December 2016
20 November is also the last day to give responses on a consultation on cycling on the Thames Path by Dukes Meadow.
Last year the Council promised that the Dukes Meadows Trust would be involved
in creating a strategy for the recreational area - which has won a Green
Flag for its amenity attractions.
A statement from the Trust recently did not fully endorse
the consultant's review recently saying that it was disappointed that
substantial investment to repair the parts of the park that the Council
was responsible for was not addressed in the report.
Formerly part of Devonshire Estate, Dukes Meadows is made up of 230 acres of open riverside land either side of the railway line that runs from Waterloo to Hounslow and on to Reading. It is a main site for major sports and recreation facilities, hosting an estimated 1m people, both local and from across London and beyond, visiting the park every year.
It also contains a number of historical features, including a pump house which is still used to feed the water level at nearby Chiswick House. It is also the venue for the finish of the annual Oxford versus Cambridge University boat race.
