Perfect score for pupils as Chiswick primaries also excel
Grove Park School is celebrating a perfect score in the recently released exam results for primaries.
All the pupils at the school achieved at least Level 4 in their Key Stage 2 tests the only one to do so in the borough and 77% achieved Level 5 which was also the best result. The school also achieved an exceptionally high value added score.
The new William Hogarth School had their first ever class entered at Key Stage 2 and they posted a very solid set of results with an average of 81% of pupils reaching level 4 in English, Maths and Science.
There were also good results from the other local schools with all of those in Hounslow Borough either at or above the borough average.
Hounslow was ranked fourth in London (out of 32 boroughs) in terms of performance by the Department for Education and Skills in their Achievement and Assessment value-added (VA) tables. These measure the improvement in test scores of individual pupils in English, maths and science between Key Stage 1 (age 7) to Key Stage 2 (age 11) and are recognised as giving the best view of how effective a school is.
Cllr Dr Robert Kinghorn, Executive Member for Education Children at Hounslow Council said '“Everyone involved in education in the borough - heads, teachers, classroom assistants, support staff, and officers here at the Council - can take an enormous amount of pride from these results. These tables show what many parents in the borough already know from experience - that our primary schools provide a first class environment for pupils to achieve excellent results."
Judith Pettersen, the newly appointed Director of Children’s Services and Lifelong Learning at the London Borough Hounslow, said, “Performance in English and Maths is above the national average - breaking the 80 per cent barrier in English for the first time - and Science is equal to the national average."
