Strand School gains coveted award

Double celebration for local school

There were two pieces of good news for Strand on the Green School this week. Firstly Strand on the Green Infant and Nursery school was awarded the `Basic Skills Quality Mark' by the Basic Skills Agency.

Mark Newton, Deputy Head of the school said, "We are delighted to receive this award for numeracy and literacy standards at our school which reflects the hard work put in by all members of our school community."

LEAs assess their schools against the 10 Elements of the Quality Mark and recommend schools to the Agency for approval. Staff from the Agency monitor the assessments and ensure that they are consistent between and across LEAs.

In addition the publication of the Key Stage 2 results league tables showed the junior school pupils achieving pass rates at level 4 above the national and borough averages.
