Traffic lights installed at junction show restriction in error

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that there are no plans to introduce a ban on right turns from Chiswick High Road into Chiswick Lane.
Local residents and business owners raised concerns when they spotted that the new lights installed at the junction for temporary Cycleway 9 included a no right turn sign for eastbound traffic on Chiswick High Road.
TfL says that these lights were implemented in error and it is in the process of rectifying them. A spokesperson confirmed that the eastbound right turn onto Chiswick Lane is not going to be banned once the signal works are complete. The design submitted for the cycleway shows that no such restriction was planned.
It is understood that planning the management of the traffic light phases has been problematic particularly at the Chiswick Lane junction but also at Turnham Green Terrace. The temporary cycleway had to be blocked off at the Chiswick Lane junction when it became apparent how risky it was to use without the new traffic light control in action. The bi-directional lane is inside that for general traffic which is now reduced to a single lane westbound meaning that traffic turning left onto Chiswick Lane crosses the cycleway. Without lights to control the flow there was confusion about right of way at the junction.
This is the latest issue with traffic lights being installed at the scheme with many of the temporary lights operating on the High Road operating incorrectly including the ones at the junctions with Heathfield Terrace and Dukes Avenue.
TfL are saying currently that Cycleway 9 will be fully operational before Christmas.
