A Chiswick teenager and former Belmont Primary School pupil has won a national singing competition

Seventeen-year-old Saffron Rococo was the overall winner of Teenstar after a hugely competitive final which was held online.

Saffron who currently attends the BRIT school impressed the judges with her performance of her own song “Priority”.

She was voted in by the judges at every round having sung original songs throughout. The panel of celebrity judges included Carrie Grant, (Judge on Pop Idol, Eurovision Song Contest, Fame Academy), Chris Grayston – A&R for Sony, Thames TV and Future Music, Julie Miles vocal coach and Leon Haynes, A&R at Polydor Records.

She has been writing songs since an early age and doing live gigs in venues around London including performing at the summer festival Tidefest last year.

This won her the overall winner prize of £2,500 cash and advice and mentoring from the industry experts.

Prior to the pandemic the final of Teenstar was held at the O2 but this year was all online.

With over 8000 entries each year, it is the biggest search for unsigned talent in the UK. Acts compete at auditions and in stages with the public voting throughout to keep in their favourites.
