Council Angry About Further Acton Lane Works Delay

Postponement of completion of project announced by Thames Water

Acton Lane closed northbound

Hounslow Council have reacted angrily to being informed by Thames Water that there will be a further delay in completing its main repair on Acton Lane.

The expected date for completion and the reopening of the northbound lane is 27 November. Last week Thames had indicated that the project would be finished on the 13 November and this was extended to 20 November over the weekend.

The Council blames he closure for exacerbating the increased number of traffic jams reported on Chiswick High Road. As a result they have had to suspend the access restrictions on Turnham Green Terrace.

The completion of the cycleway project on Chiswick High Road has also been delayed. It is understood that this is a result of issues with the installation of traffic lights.

Cllr Hanif Khan, Cabinet Member for Transport at Hounslow Council said, “We have been informed that Thames Water’s ongoing repair works at Acton Lane will now extend to the 27 November. This is very disappointing as the continued disruption to the road network in the area is seriously inconveniencing motorists and residents of Chiswick. We will be monitoring the situation closely and hope that completion of the works can be brought forward from this suggested completion date.”
