Council Planners Agree to Conversion of Bar in Devonshire Road
Recommend approval for change of use at Italian Job site

A report by Hounslow Council planners is recommending a change of use for the former premises on the Italian Job on Devonshire Road.
This former bar restaurant has been closed for over a year and it was argued that the site was no longer viable for a business of this nature.
The application (P/2023/1684) is seeking permission to convert 13 Devonshire for use by Killick & Co a financial services business.
A single objection was received on the basis of a loss of historic shop use and that office use was unsuitable for this site.
The borough planning team determined the principle of office use in this ‘secondary business parade’ is acceptable and that, if the application was granted, there would be no harm to neighbouring properties or the appearance of the site.
The plan may now need to be considered by the borough planning committee before approval is given.
There are other vacant units on Devonshire Road and a number of existing business owners in the area have privately expressed concerns about their survival due to high rents, inflation, difficulty getting staff and a failure of revenue to return to pre-Covid levels.
