A row of garages in Grove Park are likely to be redeveloped into residential properties if proposals by a Housing Association are approved.
A planning application (P/2021/5018) was submitted last year for the site at Florence Gardens to demolish 13 garages and build a two storey building containing four flats – two two bedroom and two one bedroom. These are to be let out at the London Affordable Rent with the application saying that ‘some will be coming from compromised or distressing living situations’.
The building will have a shared first floor roof terrace shared by residents and set back from the road to avoid it overlooking other properties.
There have been four objections to the plan on the basis that it would lead to a loss of sunlight and privacy for existing residents and would cause further stress on parking availability in the area. The council’s planners are now recommending approval on the basis that the scheme would enhance the appearance of the area, would avoid harm to neighbouring properties.

The scheme is part of a wider programme of developments by Cromwood Housing Ltd which won a bid to develop eleven sites in the borough, many of which are in Chiswick, on small sites owned by the council.
