Licence Application Made for Mystery Restaurant

Moves to open a large restaurant on Chiswick High Road continue with no indication yet of the type of establishment planned.
A premises licence application has been submitted to KSMV Properties Limited for 299-303 Chiswick High Road with no name given for the business to be opened at that address.
The application covers both the former premises of Perfect Pizza and Republic Indian restaurant which took over the site previously occupied by Michelin-starred restaurant Hedone.
Both units hold a premises licence, but these will be surrendered if a single licence is granted for both sites.
KSMV Properties Limited was given the premises licence for 299 Chiswick High Road this January on the same terms that the Republic restaurant had its licence.
The application states that the venue is to operate as a restaurant and bar with permission for alcohol sales on and off the premises. Live and recorded music will be played in the basement floor only which may also be used for private hire and functions.
The hours of opening applied for are 9am to 1am Sunday to Thursday and to 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays with last orders half an hour earlier.
There were a number of objections to the application approved in January on the grounds of noise and potential anti-social behaviour. People living nearby wanted assurances that the venue would not operate as a night club.
In response to these concerns a representative of the applicant said that the late licence was for pre-booked private functions only and the venue would not be operating as a live music venue. The application has been made for seven days a week to allow flexibility with bookings. The events would take place in the basement and it is claimed there would be no noise audible to local residents.
When asked about the type of cuisine to be served at the earlier licence hearing, the applicant said that this was a secret and options were being explored but it would definitely be ‘something new’. There is currently no indication at the address what type of restaurant it is going to be.
One local business owner told us, “I don’t know what is planned at this site but many restaurants have come and gone over the years assuming the business park would bring in lots of customers but that hasn’t happened. However, the timing may be good as the Italians attracts people to the area and good value restaurants like Rice and Faanoos are popular during these hard times. When the Empire House development opens this area will be less cut off from the rest of Chiswick.”
The last date for representations on the application is 25 June. They should be sent to licensing@hounslow.gov.uk.
