Hogarth’s House is to be closed for essential maintenance from Tuesday 23 July until at least 1 August.

While repairs are made to the building, new cycle parking will also be installed at the location.

As some of the work is weather dependent, it may be that the closure may need to continue into August. Anyone planning a visitor should check www.hogarthshouse.org and social media for updates about reopening.

The work is believed to be routine and not connected to any damage caused by nearby building work. Concerns had been previously expressed that construction activity may have been having an impact on the 18th century building.

Hogarth's House, located on the A4 Great West Road in Chiswick, is a historic residence that was once the country retreat of the famous 18th-century English artist William Hogarth. Renowned for his satirical engravings and paintings, Hogarth lived in the house from 1749 until his death in 1764. The house, now a museum, showcases a collection of Hogarth's works, personal belongings, and period furnishings, offering a glimpse into his life and times.

Hogarth's House is usually open from Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 5pm. The house is closed on Mondays, except for bank holidays. Admission is free.
