A fire broke out in a Persian restaurant on Chiswick High Road in the early hours of this Saturday morning (21 September) causing significant damage to the premises.
Six people had to be rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus from the flats above the dining area with all reported to have escaped without injury.
The first call to the Fire Brigade was made at around 1am and a crew from the nearby Chiswick station was joined by colleagues from Acton and Hammersmith with 25 firefighters and four engines going to the scene.
The fire was brought under control by 2.15am and subsequent investigations indicated that it started in the basement.
Police forensic officers joined Fire Brigade investigators at the scene but no indication has been given at this point that the fire is being treated as suspicious.
