Inquest Begins Into Chiswick Schoolgirl's Death

Issy Reilly suffered cardiac arrest after taking ecstasy at friend's party

The inquest into the death of 15 year old Chiswick schoolgirl Issy Reilly began today, Wednesday 4th May.

Issy died on 23rd April after going into cardiac arrest at her friend's house. It is believed that Issy and three of her friends including 14 year old Beatrice whose home the party was being held in, took pills thought to be ecstasy they found in a bedroom cupboard.

The inquest heard how Beatrice, had searched her parent's bedroom "looking for something that they could enjoy at the party."

Brian Dodgeon and his partner, Angela Hadjipateras, were away for the night visiting friends in Hastings but told their neighbours about the party and had asked one of them to keep an eye on things, the inquest was told.

Both Mr Dodgeon and Ms Hadjipateras were interviewed at Notting Hill police station. Mr Dodgeon was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and child abandonment and bailed until June.

The story took a further sad turn this week when the 60 year old academic threw himself off a bridge on the North Circular Road. Mr Dodgeon broke both legs and remains in a serious condition in hospital. He had been suspended from his position at the Institute of Education on full pay.

The post-mortem results for Issy have not yet been released and the inquest has been adjourned until a review hearing due to be held in July.

Detective Sergeant Neil Philpott, from Kensington and Chelsea borough, said: "It is a tragic case. We are not after any blood but we do have to investigate. There are people with regrets but that is all I can say."
