Local police have pledged to maintain high visibility enforcement along Chiswick High Road following a recent operation that saw fines issued and bicycles seized for unlawful use.

Officers say the crackdown has received strong backing from residents and businesses, and they are committed to keeping up the momentum.

The operation targeted cyclists riding on pavements, a persistent issue that poses risks to pedestrians—particularly children, older residents, and those with mobility needs. Police confirmed that cyclists found riding on the pavement without lawful exemption may be issued with Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs).

PCSO Randles will now carry out regular patrols along the High Road as part of the ongoing effort to ensure the area remains safe and accessible for all. Officers say they will continue to take “proportionate but firm action” where needed.

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation and the information you continue to share with us,” the team said in a statement. “If you see PCSO Randles on patrol, please feel free to speak with him—your feedback helps us identify the areas that matter most to you.”

The enforcement follows growing concern about pedestrian safety and aims to strike a balance between active travel and public protection.
