Man Charged with Drug Dealing After Raid on Property in Chiswick

A man has been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after the police raided a property in Chiswick this week.
Local officers were joined by an emergency response team to exercise the search warrant on Thursday morning (21 September). Although the police have not confirmed the address, according to one report the raid took place on Eastbury Grove.
This is the culmination of an escalation of police activity following growing concern about the amount of drug dealing in the area and the death of a woman on Devonshire Road earlier this month.
The police say they have been gathering evidence methodically to target dealers and the raid, along with other actions, was enabled through information supplied by members of the community as well as ‘fast-time investigations’ by Response Officers. The police posted images on social media of the drugs discovered during the raid.
Earlier in the week on Tuesday (19 September) officers from North Acton and Hanger Hill joined local officers in a joint plain clothes operation near Chiswick High Road and arrested two males, one for theft from Boots and Robert Dyas and one for failure to appear in court and handling stolen goods. Officers say that the issue of theft at local retailers and drug dealing is linked because the dealers encourage addicts to steal in order to pay for drugs.
However, some people living in the area say the person they believe sold the drugs to Rachel, the woman who was found dead in a shop doorway, remains at large. The police continue to encourage anyone with information about drug dealing in the area to come forward and it is understood that further arrests are planned.

The police say they have also stepped-up food patrols in the area focusing on areas where drug dealing has been reported.

Local councillors say they are planning to hold a fourth public meeting on crime and policing in Chiswick Town Hall and the tri-borough commander Sean Wilson and others from the police to attend once the venue is confirmed.
