Health experts believe this is contributing to higher levels of infection
Big effort being made to encourage young to get vaccinated
W4 residents are being urged to take up the offer of Covid-19 vaccination after figures showed take up in the area was behind other parts of the capital.
The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show that 68.3% of Chiswick adult population has been vaccinated by 5 July compared to a London average of 77.6%.
For second doses the average is 47.7% compared to 52.0% for the whole of London.
Local health experts believe there will be a close correlation between the spread of the Delta variant of the disease and the level of vaccination so further efforts are being made to encourage more people to get their jab particularly younger people.
For the whole of London 52.2% of 18-24 year olds have received their first dose with just 15.0% having had their second. This rises to 65.9% and 20.1% respectively for the 25-29 age group.
A walk in vaccination centre continues to operate at the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre and first and second doses of both the Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines will be available this weekend on a walk in basis (Saturday 10 July - 8.30am to 7.30pm & Sunday 11 July - 8.30am to 6pm).
A survey of those aged 18-40 in the borough of Hounslow is being undertaken to help the council better understand that age groups attitude to the vaccine.
Infection rates have continue to rise in the Chiswick area with over 100 cases in the week to 5 July.
Overall Hounslow Borough has an infection rate of 146 per 100,000 population which is below the London average whereas Ealing Borough is at 195. The worst affected local authority area in London is Hammersmith & Fulham which has an infection rate of 302.
