Ant & Dec in alien love triangle

TV twosome swap Chiswick for outer space

According to Empire Magazine, Chiswick's resident teen-actors-turned-pop-stars-turned-children's-TV-presenters-turned-kings-of-light-entertainment are making the leap into film in Alien Autopsy.  Currently being shot at Ealing Studios, the film's makers are keen to assure the film going public that the film isn't going the caper movie you might expect from the diminutive duo.

The film focuses on two best friends, Ray and Gary (guess who), who go on a trip to the US and stumble across a piece of top secret military film that will change the way mankind sees the universe forever.

They borrow the money to buy the tape from an eccentric drug baron and crop circle fanatic, and return to the UK, with the footage, to a media frenzy that thrusts them into the limelight. However, the pair have a secret of their own, and if the truth gets out, their lives could be in danger.

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly star alongside big names such as Bill Pullman, stand-up comic and actor Omid Djalili (The Mummy; Gladiator) and TV comedienne Morwenna Banks.

The film was written by Will Davies, who previously worked on Johnny English and Twins, and is being directed by Jonny Campbell, known from British TV's 'Shameless' and 'Phoenix Nights'.

Empire confess that, despite initial misgivings, what they saw when they visited the set led  them to believe that this film could be rather fun. Both Ant and Dec were eager to stress that this isn't an 'Ant and Dec' movie – there'll be no mugging to camera, no improvised sketches with guest stars, and no plaintive cries of "He cannae see, man, he cannae see!" Really, it's the pair getting back to their acting roots.

A date for the film's release is yet to be set.
