Business Park Hosts Geography Lesson
Pupils from Chiswick & Bedford Park Prep School visit office site
Chiswick Business Park has played host to a class of nineteen 9-year old pupils from Chiswick and Bedford Park Prep School, who visited the park as part of a geography project exploring the multi-faceted and changing use of the land.
Having spent half a term exploring the issues around the new office development, the children were eager to see the extent to which the site has changed since its early days as a bus depot, when it was owned by London Transport.
Highlights of the school visit included a virtual tour of the Park, giving the children a real insight into what it will look like once complete, as well as a visit to Building 11 where work is about to begin prior to new companies moving in, showing how the space looks before the interiors are divided and furnished. As a comparison they were also given a tour of the occupied Regus office in Building 3, which overlooks the new building works of the next phase of the Chiswick Park development of Buildings 4 & 5.
Sarah Green, from Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work, gave a presentation showing the future of the business park, the uniqueness of the development and how it will look when the final phase has been completed. Sarah commented:
“The children really enjoyed their visit to the park and clearly got a great deal out of seeing the way in which land use has been continually changing over the years. At Chiswick Park we are committed to building a variety of links that will benefit the local community, and I think it was a real eye-opener for the children to experience firsthand the lifestyle ethos that we offer companies based at the park. It’s a long way from the early bus depot days!”
Chiswick Park hope that the trip will be built into the school curriculum and will become an annual visit.
