Amongst his current roles, Loyd is Chairman of The Royal Parks and President of The Arts Society. His lifelong interest in history, the arts and heritage has involved him in a number of organisations in the past, which include his role as Chairman of the Heritage Alliance, Commissioner of the Museums and Galleries Commission, of English Heritage and of the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England. He was appointed a CBE in recognition of his services to Heritage.

The Society says that his discussion of the vital contribution of parks, including Royal Parks, to the quality of life in cities is especially relevant. The protection of urban parks is vital now, as for the first time in history, city dwellers will be a majority of the world’s population, and city centres are suffering from the increased privatisation of space and the erosion of the public realm.

Drinks available from 7.15pm. Lecture starts 8.00pm.

Tickets: £10 – available online (plus 70p admin charge) or from Postmark, Turnham Green Terrace.
